Hildanus's Bivalve Speculum

Description : Hildanus illustrated a bivalve speculum which was devised to remove foreign bodies from the ear canal.

This type of bivalve speculum was in fairly wide use in the 16th and 17th centuries' and came into more general use in the 19th century, being particularly favoured by both Itard and Kramer
