Outstanding ears (bat ears)

Outstanding ears (bat ears)

Description : Outstanding, protruding or bat ears are the commonest cosmetic deformity of the pinna.

Outstanding ears are inherited by means of an autosomal dominant gene which has complete penetrance but a variable expressivity.

Clinically the angle between the auricle and the side of the head is greater than normal and the auricle protrudes anteriorly.
