Description : In some individuals, with age, coarse hairs may appear on the lower portions of the helix.

This type of ear is referred to as a hairy pinna.

Hairy pinna occurs only in males, and is a Y-linked or holandric trait.

The expression of this Y- linked trait increases with age, and there is an almost complete expression by the age of 60.

Hairy pinna is most commonly encountered in the male population of India.
